About

Nekfallet, also known as Nekfossen, is one of the highest and most impressive waterfalls in Innlandet, Norway – with a stunning 90-meter drop. Located near Finstad in Rendalen, the Neka River plunges into a deep gorge, surrounded by lush forest and dramatic rock formations.

Visitors can choose between a steep path down to the base of the waterfall or a demanding route up to a scenic viewpoint above the falls. The area is steep and slippery at times – proper footwear is recommended, and all activity is at your own risk.

The surrounding area was protected as Nekfallet Nature Reserve in 2019 due to its rare ecological value. The reserve includes spray zone forest and continental ravine forest, and is home to several red-listed species – including the critically endangered lichen fossfiltlav.

The waterfall is especially powerful in early summer and is most photogenic in the afternoon light. Nekfallet offers a wild and memorable nature experience – and is a hidden gem worth discovering in Rendalen.
